Noises in Chimney

Symptom

"I hear noises coming from my chimney or fireplace!"

If you hear noises in your fireplace or chimney, we will ask you the following questions to help determine the cause:

What time(s) of day or night are you hearing this noise?
How long have you been hearing it? Days or weeks?
Do you have a ranch style house or a two-story?
Do you hear any verbal audible sounds?
Do you have a chimney cap?

Cause

Depending on your answers to the above questions, the problem may be caused by the following critters:

Raccoon
Squirrel
Bird
Bats
Chimney Swifts (bird)

Remedy

Temporary measures to take would be to make sure the screen and fireplace doors are closed. Place a piece of plywood or something over the fireplace opening to secure it. Also make sure that any clean-out access hole or door is secured in the basement.
